In any layman’s language, Web Hosting simply means borrowing some space on the internet. For an owner of personal web page, it may mean paying a few dollars to put up his amateur publications online. Going a bit higher, web hosting related to a business venture, means spending thousands of dollars for a multi-functional website and online data management services. A personal level web hosting is much cheaper & less complicated as compared to business level web hosting. However, to a “host” (i.e. a company who provides you the web space, the same term is applicable quite differently.
A “host” is a company which provides web space (in a multitude of packages) on a server. This server can be either owned by the company or leased from various service providers. The most common types of domain offered are Windows hosting or Linux Hosting.
A single-page hosting involves use of simple tools like Frontpage, Flash & so on. An innovative business website, however, takes months for the designing & development and uses a variety of tools, programming languages & database technologies like Java, ASP.NET, Perl & so on. Web hosting packages can be either free, sponsored, economy level or high end ones.
